Extreme runner Patrick Hameau doesn’t shy away from a challenge. He’s racked up no fewer than 40 ultra trail running races and several adventure races. He decided to take on the world’s toughest foot race - the Badwater Ultramarathon. This superhuman challenge is run in mid-July the sweltering heat of Death Valley, California, averaging 40°C/105°F. Runners have to complete 220 km (136 miles) in under 48 hours, with 4,000 meters cumulative ascent and 1,500 meters cumulative descent — quite a feat for the most extreme runner!
